Volkswagen kept it colourful and playful at their IAA booth this year. There were many whispers prior to the reveal at the press conference this year about what vehicle we will see on the VW stage but when it came time, VW’s crowd still gave a loud ovation to the ID.3 vehicle premiere.
VW’s ID.3 is inspired by the brands desire to be vibrant, have a sense of humour, and be people-centric – a new generation of creation at VW. This theme can be seen throughout the VW stand at the IAA with vehicle designs that are playful in both design and colour. The fun and charming design to the ID.3 has already coined the nickname “The People’s Car” and is the first car from VW to be using the MEB platform (modular electric drive matrix) – a technology platform developed by VW specifically for electric vehicles. “It’s very important that Volkswagen should be perceived as a new brand, with different values. This is a new orientation, not only of the Volkswagen brand but also of the whole Group,” states Klaus Bischoff VW chief designer at the press conference.
